Stop 104, Persist by Cameron Stalheim  from South Dakota

This sculpture is the first of a three-piece series in which you will see the figure slowly rise into the air, while shedding their fabric of burden. Stalheim wanted to create a series that inspired people to become more vulnerable, and to not be afraid of asking for help.

One of the hardest parts in creating this piece was enlarging it to the size you see. Stalheim originally created a 24” model and had it digitally scanned, enlarged, and carved out of foam. He then had to go back and put clay on top of the foam. It was his first foray into digital enlargement, so it was a bit unnerving to not be in complete control for the entire process.
