Stop 107, Tension by Jamie Weinfurter, Minnesota, Rusted Chains and Bronze
Tension took about 3 months to complete from initial sketch to final product. Weinfurter’s inspiration for the piece came from a series of sculpture representing emotion in physical forms. Tension describes the response to distress and positive stress as different experiences in her life, represented as chain links, create balance between the two hands and a window for future possibilities. As a detail-oriented artist, the artistic process of welding each individual chain link was cathartic and fulfilling. Welding the chains to hold each hand was the hardest part of creating the piece, but ended up becoming the aspect she takes the most pride in.
